Every year, it seems like those gray, dreary winter days are never going to end. There comes a point somewhere around the end of February where the thrill and excitement of the Holiday season feels like a distant memory, but winter has just lingered on regardless.
Thankfully, as of today, that's all over. Today marks the first day of Spring. The vernal equinox. If you don't already know, that means that daylight and nighttime are equal parts of the day today. Tomorrow, we'll have a little more daylight than nighttime, and on and on that will continue until we hit the summer solstice, when the process will begin to reverse. But that's for another post.
What else does all this mean? It means that very soon we'll start to see the first buds of the season. Soon the air will be filled with the delicate scent of honeysuckles. Wildflower blossoms will being to blanket parks and greenspaces with their colors and aromas. The first Farmer's Markets will be opening soon, and the wonderful bounty of nature will be a feast for the senses. Fresh fruit, flowers, and more will soon be filling crates on the backs of trucks pulled over on the side of the road. Personally, I am looking forward to fresh and juicy, local, vine-ripened tomatoes; to warm, sunny days spent outside looking at cloud-filled blue skies over freshly cut green grass; to road trips, camping trips, and trips to the market.
In short, I am looking forward to the season. And what better way to celebrate the first day of spring than with our Farmstand candle collection? Whether you love the scent of fresh cut flowers, ripe fruit, prepared herbs, or some combination of all three, we have a scent for you. But that's not where our Farmstand candles stop celebrating spring.
For me, there is no greater sign of the season than local markets filled with vendors selling their wares (we've been known to do a few of those ourselves from time to time). There's just something about going to a market, meeting a maker, and purchasing some freshly prepared preserves that were made the night before. That's why our Farmstand candles look the way they do. From the classic square mason jar (that's fully washable and reusable, by the way), to the watercolor-inspired label, to the galvanized metal lid that looks just like the lids on your grandmother's antique mason jars, we have designed our Farmstand collection to be a true celebration of the season.
The only thing that's left is to decide which ones you want to fill your home with the delicate aromas of spring while we all wait for flowers to bud, markets to open, and those wonderful, warm, sunny days spent outside with friends and family.
